Dividing phyllostachys viridglaucescens bamboo
Hi I have 3 phyllostachys viridglaucescens bamboo plants which are around 3 years old, they are forming a screen and range between 4 and 7 feet high. There is a gap between 2 of them and want to divide one of the larger bamboo to fill the gap. How's and when it's the best time to do this? Thanks in advance

Now is a pretty good time to devide where you are I think. In colder areas it might be good to wait for spring, but before shooting starts. Cut clump in half with a Sawzall with long demo blade or a sharp flat shovel(and some work).
How big is the gap? How big are the clumps? Maybe good to wait another year if clump is compact.

How big is your gap? Compost and a water hose do wonders to spread out bamboo, at least here.Easily get 20 foot spread in one year if that's your goal. M

That water hose is like a magic wand.
