Jasmine Scented Phyllostachys
One of my unidentified bamboos is scented. It's pleasant and fills the air even at a good distance. I don't know what it is, I'll be out there tomorrow morning I just got an iPhone but I don't know how to send photos. Mackel

Re: Jasmine Scented Phyllostachys
I'm probably wrong (as usual), but I'll give it a go: Incense bamboo (atrovaginata, congesta)?
Re: Jasmine Scented Phyllostachys
is it possible it could be Phyllostachys atrovaginata ? Needmore has posted some great photos of shoots. I once came across a small plant in a nursery but was unable to notice any scent. P. atrovaginata is reported to smell like sandalwood not jasmine though, either way these are two of my favorite scents. Does anybody else out there have any experiences with scented bamboos??

Re: Jasmine Scented Phyllostachys
I've noticed many times that bissetii and aureosulcata aureocaulis are strongly scented, more so than my atrovaginata. Hot, humid weather seems to bring it out. Don't think yours is either of those though Mackel.
