Bamboo and soil biomass growth.

Post by dependable »

I was cleaning what was an old nursery zone and noted how much the soil depth had risen since bamboo had taken over the area. A depth of 4-6 inches around plant pots that had been sitting there for around 7 years. There is some mineral content, probably migrated up with help of living things, but a lot of it organic.

It is normal for growing areas like lawns to rise too, but thought it was interesting how much ground had risen with little input.

Added picture of Semi-arundinarea growing into truck 'cause it was in my camera just for fun.

The bamboo is taking over HA HA.

Hahahaha!!! Tarzanus!

I just recently noticed how self mulching my clump of Madake has become. I put out a top dressing of compost back in May, and there is already a 2" layer of culm sheaths and old leaves on top of it.
