I honestly thought Dendrocalamus minor amoenus would be a slow grower here in the San Francisco Bay Area as it is a true tropical, and I didn't expect it to get either hot enough or wet enough here for it to truly thrive.
Well, it's turned out to be quite vigorous; here are some pics of new growth during year 2 in the ground:
