Like this Bamboo a lot , it's no problem to grow, needs little attention and just looks special. Markj has a lovely one that has sized up well.
Seens to like stream side areas. It's one of those Bamboos that you can plant and not try with.
It does suffer winter damage on the blades that can make it look untidy , but new season culms soon come and make it look good again.
I may have posted the Wood Duck pic before , it's one I made for a very old friend of mine and have not made it again, so all I have of it is a pic.
We did Wood Duck conservation back in the 70's.
Anyway I came across it in an old pic file

Are yours shooting? The ones I acquired (from you :toothy9: ) are doing well but seem idle. I have them on the shady side of my house though, so the ground is a lot cooler.

The shoots seem to grow slowly, mine has sized up a bit .
I'll post pics when they leaf out.
All the best
Steve

I was surprised yesterday afternoon to find a 6inch shoot that I swear was not there the day before. With the warmth of this upcoming week and the expected rain next weekend, I expect more and more surprises.

Beautiful stained glass! I particularly like the effect of the glass directly behind the duck fanning upward, as if the duck has just landed and created a splash, or to give the feel of a peacock- to denote how showy a wood duck's colors are. Or so it reads to me. Thank you for posting the picture.

Thanks for seeing what I hoped was there in the glass. The ripple glass was a one off small sheet impossible to get more of
,I decided even tho the sheet was too small to do the whole background it was too cool not to be in the design. I'm tryong to figure out a Bamboo design , there are so many ways to go it's hard to pin down one theme.
Thanks
Steve
