Sometime this week, someone is supposed to bring me a sample of their "bamboo" for me to try and identify. So far they've described it as having no branches and leaves on both sides of the nodes, just like in the Japanese paintings. :?

A mystery prize for the person who comes closest to guessing the identity of the mystery "bamboo".

My vote is for Arundo donax although I probably would have voted for Dracaena sanderia if you had put it as a viable choice.

I say japanese knotweed... the leaf wraps the stem... if I remember right, so that could seem like it has leaves on "both"sides....

They STILL haven't gotten me the sample they have been promising. Something always happens. *grumble*

I haven't forgotten this and will keep asking.

Around here it is the J Knotweed that gives us the worst rep.
