Found this the other day after noticing the bamboo looked really stressed. Ironically this is coming from a bamboo that I was trying to eradicate from my yard last year, which I literally gave away divisions of it in exchange for dirt to fill in the holes.

My initial thought was that the bamboo was flowering due to stress, however, I have another small clump of the same bamboo elsewhere in the yard that is too is flowering. Now I guess I'll wait and see if I get any viable seed.

The variety is unknown, but I and a few other booaholics belive it to be B. Dissimulator....here's the pics!

Do look like Bambusa type flowers. Fertilize them to increase viable seeds. The seeds should be fun to mess with wouldn't mind some to play with myself.

Hmmm, didn't think to increase the fertilizer, though I did just fertilize all the boo in my yard last weekend. Perhaps a little more every now and then won't hurt.

If I start getting seed from it I'll post, and once viability is proven I'll be sure to share some!
