I have posted three pics of an unknown type bamboo in my photos. Please look at them and see if you can tell me what I have.

This clumping bamboo is of a medium height (10 to 20') with slightly zig-zag culms that average 1/2" to 1" thickness. The color is dark green. The culms turn a spotty black during their second season, after the cold. It is not a running variety. Thanks for your input!

The pics are in my forum photos. I haven't figured out yet how to post them in this message. I think you can look on my profile and see them listed? I hope? LOL. Sorry! If you can't find them, I'll figure how to post them in the message. It usually takes me awhile to get the hang of a new forum format. I ain't as slick as I used to be!

Here, let me try again.....

Ah, you put them in the "photos" section of this website.

It's easier to put them in with the post. If you do that and not sure if it worked, click the "preview" button instead of "submit". That way you can get it perfect before posting.

(Unfortunately I don't know what species of bamboo that is.)

Look at pictures of Bambusa ventricosa, I strongly suspect that is it.

Is that culm black (or very dark brown)? Maybe with some lighter stripes?

Definitely Bambusa..leaves not large enough to be another tropical genus.

I didn't know B. ventricosa turned black? Although thanks to Needmore, the picts seem to show that some do. I think Marcat is trying to find out if it's B. Lako...those will have some faint vertical striping.

This one has spots..? Hmmmm.

Experts? Be interested to know what you'all think.
