Assuming you mean the photo I posted, zxylene, nope...it's just one couple with a young boy. He built the biggest house he could legally cram onto that small lot, making no attempt to blend in with the community.

(Our house is on the left.)

We have high hopes for the bamboo, though. We just planted it in June, and we already have nine new shoots as tall as 15 feet! :D

love the look and how it shields you from the business. Please keep posting with updates, I really enjoying seeing the changes that growth brings.

Those pictures were taken 3 years apart, but in those 3 years I changed the bamboos along the fence line. The current bamboos were planted just over 2 years ago.

The original picture had (Left -> right) Bambusa tuldoides, Gigantochloa maxima, and Bambusa multiplex 'Golden Goddess' along the fence. The current bamboos are Bambusa chungii var. barbelatta, Bambusa eutuldoides 'Viridivittata', and Bambusa textilis var. gracilis.

We planted textilis gracilis between us and the neighbor.....just because. Then oldhamii next to the road. We love it except for the fact that we get a LOT of leaves in the pool. Gracilis is my faaaaavorite!

A church to front left, nice neighbor but has lots of guests back left, A hobbit man w a mansion who is a shrink front right, a radio station, yoga center, dojo, woodshop, commercial rental and public space to back right. Hence the Bamboo Curtain, installed mostly in compost berms. And one of the busiest roads in the county in front.

The neighbor in question is a very nice man who kind of reminds me of a hobbit, not meant as an insult at all. But he does have a huge house & conducts business there. Actually, he and his wife garden a lot and have P Aureosulcata and P Nigra. And I planted (with their consent and some payment) P Aureosulcata /Bissetii mix at neighbor's behind me on other side and P Flexuosa and some P Aureosulcata at the multi use property on the other side. Not complaining about any on my neighbors, But they all have high traffic of people not known to me. They are also grateful that they don't have to view my trucks & business detritus.

I blocked the view of my neighbor's house that is literally 15 feet from the fence.

This is in 2005...before we had the pool put in.

and this is 2009...

Originally done with B. ventricosa "kimmei" and B. dissemulator, I'm in the process of replacing it all with divisions of my B. mutabilis and B. textilis gracilis.
