Bamboo Weaving

Has anyone run into really good weaving bamboo species of the tropical clumping kind? I need to make some lids for large compost bins, and would like to weave them together for a more lasting compost cover.

Never tried using it, but I do recall reading that Bambusa textilis is used for weaving.

Bambusa Textilis is sometimes referred to as "weavers bamboo"
