A new Bamboo is coming up in my home. I want to know if it is clumping or running Bamboo because I have other plants and would have to place barriers if it is running type.

I can't say for sure, impossible to tell from the photo. I would put it in a large pot and let it size up and get some leaves before trying to identify it.

I have seen the big one from which I took this small one. That one was green and was about 35 feet tall at maximum and 2 inches wide. It also had some thorns.

Okay, that narrows it down considerably. Bambusa bambos is from India and has thorns. It does get bigger than 35 feet tall and 2 inches wide.
