Is this like a standard or common bamboo in terms of quality. Is there a hierarchy in the bamboo species? For example; rarity, beauty, hardiness and if so could somebody give me their opinion or a link on what that would be?

I don't know about the rating, but B. vulgaris is very common. Not very cold hardy, but will come back quickly from cold damage. Since you are in South Florida, then you generally don't have much concern for cold damage.

As far as which bamboos look the best, then "beauty is in the eye of the beholder".

Look at the bamboo gallery and you can get some ideas:

Location: Greater Seattle, WA, area; Zone 8. Summers:mainly 60's-70's. Winters are rainy, but above freezing except for a few 15 deg F days; 1-2 days of snow max.
I don't see mites. There is a little deficiency in the leaves, but not the distinctive loss of chlorophyll typical of mite infestation.
