That's a neat bamboo Allen. I picked one up while I was @ Sherry's yesterday. Huge leaves! Very nice striated culms too. I think it's going to be a great addition to the collection.

Sherry has some great bamboo. Here are a couple of pics from her nursery...

Allen,

I'm sure that you saw the beautiful B. 'nana' bamboo she has growing as you enter the driveway. That boo caught my eye before anything else. It's a fantastic looking bamboo. Very exotic. I can't see that bamboo being in the multiplex family at all. What's your opinion on that?

Definitely NOT. I suppose somebody along the line got a multiplex labeled "nana"... that may be the reason so many sites list nana as a possible multiplex.

I have one that I got from Sherry. Mine already put up a new shoot. I can't wait to see it fully grown. I know the origin of the one Sherry has. I believe it was imported by Jim Rehor. Sherry has some very nice bamboo. She also has a lot of B. textilis "gracilis" she needs to move.

Looks like you are getting a pretty good collection Mike. Did you get one of the B. "nana" also?

Of course I did! It's a spectacular looking bamboo. I got one in a 7 g. pot. It looks a little beat up right now from the drive home in the back of my truck (160 miles each way) but I'm sure that it will be fine. I'll post a pic as soon as I get it loaded into the computer. We had to cut off the top 4' because it stuck out the back of the truck over 10'. I also got a D. asper sp. Betung Hitam. It was just to nice to pass up.

Congratulations Mike,

I know you wanted the hitam for some time. Mine finally put up a shoot about 4 days ago. One of these days I will figure out a way to propagate that one without doing divisions. It is a nice bamboo.

We will both have to post pics of the nana as it grows. I definitely think that one will be very nice.
