Location: We are less than one hour south of downtown Houston. We are located in Wild Peach, Texas located half way between Brazoria and West Columbia. Exit hwy 36 onto County Road 354. Take County Road 353 west . Go approximately 2.4 miles. We are on the left.
The P. viridis reverted from the Robert Young grove and can't be Vivax. What was ID'ed as Vivax would have come from a seperate grove 3/4 way back on the left of the place. I have both growing here now and the viridis consitantly gets bigger in our hot climate. Any chance you got both and the ID mixed in the trip?

I dug up the clump from about 3/4 way back on the left. But, when I went to pick up what I dug, someone else took it and I just grabbed another one that was by the same group. It is possible that the other one was viridis.

I only brought back one division. Regardless of what it is, it does seem to be growing and that is what I am excited about. Too soon to tell how much it will grow, but it would be nice to have a runner.

Roy,

Young plants/small shoots don't always have that crinkle/wrinkle. Makes IDing them that much more fun.

Here is a picture of the entire plant. You can see the larger dead culm in the back... that was from the original division.

It does look like it is getting larger. First shoot this year... never noticed the crinkle/wrinkle.

Don't know if the picture helps. The yellow in the culms is very common down here... so much sun makes most bamboo yellow on the south side.

It would be cool to have a grove down here to walk through some day. So... if this one turns out to be a runner that grows in South Texas I will have something other than just clumpers to show.

More and more... starting to think about turning the Boonut farm into a Botanical Garden... to enjoy and have something to do in my retirement years.

BTW... glad to see the runner folks having as much fun with ID as the clumper folks.
