Needmore it was nice to meet you and thanks for the bamboo. The drive was about 2 hours 20 min from Cincinnati but was a nice drive and I love Nashville, IN great little town. After all the digging I felt that I may have doubled my collection but went from 26 to 42. Sure felt like I dug more than that.

Your place is beautiful I wish I could have saw it when all you boo was at its best :( I loved it no the less If I was in the market for a house you would likely have a buyer. I think you should stand needmorebamboo.com and post that it is up forsale on that page someone who loves bamboo might love a nice tucked away place already stocked with tons of bamboo near a very nice little town.

My page!

I don't want to see what Brad's place (old place?) looks like now. I want to remember it as the bamboo wonderland it was.

As soon as that place sells and I buy a new one, give me 3 years and I'll have a new that looks about like that! I look forward to no more setbacks from topkill!

Entire town areas have dried up wells and they are trucking in water in some areas. People are taking photos of green lawns being watered and the community attacks them with a vengeance. It's gone nuts down there (well more than the usual nuts California is lol). Another year or two of drought and it will be full on Mad Max haha. You should move to Oregon. Or anywhere in the Pacific northwest. Perfect bamboo climates starting just a little west of me about a half hour. Why we have so many bamboo nurseries here.
My bamboo is doing fine. the nice thing about California up here in the upper foothills anyways is your runners only grow where theres water so you don't have to worry about it escaping where you don't want it. Climate at and above Placerville isn't that bad. yes it gets hot but nights are pleasant . Bamboo likes it here and if you mulch correctly and water right some varieties do not need a lot . My friend rarely waters his Henon grove .

we have a few nurseries this way as well :D

Well the place I'm renting has a stream with fish, cattails and other water plants so I'm not too bad here. Have been having to put on a sweatshirt the AM's are cool enough and not needing air conditioning except for a couple days. Been to several nurseries that all sell but do not specialize in bamboo, one that does and have seen zero evidence of mites due to the dry air I suspect so I'm not so sure that I'll trade you this for the OR climate and have to deal with mites!

Is your bamboo still available? I would be interested in some Arundinaria gigantea and Pseudosasa japonica or anything that would make good arrow shafts.

So it's been 6 months, what are your pros and cons to the new Home? How did the bamboo transfer do? Did anyone take you up on your free bamboo? I'm babbling like a child, but it is fun to meet an enthusiast like myself, if even online.

Brad has been quite generous out here on this side of the country

Only one person took me up on the offer so I ended up cutting down entire groves of many species. Now that I'm away I'm sure they will come back up this spring and my now rented house in Indiana will start looking shabby with sloppy shrubby bamboo.

All plants brought out here are fine and many shooting this week due to warm weather.

Carmichael? You are off the mountain down there. Maybe 200' in elevation in the upper valley? I have seen as many boo mite infested bamboo nurseries and stands down there in California as I have up here in Oregon and in Washington. Lots of sizzling summer heat there near Sac'to that mites absolutely thrive in. Spider mites do very well in dry heat and they go bonkers in hot dry places like San Diego. Cold temps is the only thing that I know of that slows them down (well, that and Avid miticide). I still have zero boo mites here and I have never had any boo mites in my hundreds, no make that thousands of bamboo plants that I have had in my collections and nurseries living in Oregon and California. Half my collection comes from central coastal California. The rest are from WA, OR, and from rhizome trades on this site from other states. Fortunately the owner of Blue Heron Nursery refused to sell me any bamboos because he had been infected with boo mites early on, and he showed me what they are so I have been able to avoid them from the beginning. I have since seen them as far north as the Skagit River near the Canadian border and as far south as San Diego. Nearly every large bamboo nursery in the west that I have been to (and that is almost all of them) has boo mites to some degree, and some are heavily infested.
