Rhizomes

Yea, within a week one planter shot up a 1 foot culm,,, branched out nicely too. The other did nothing... but peeked under the mulch and soil and the roots look great, so hoping they fire off come springtime.

If you still want some send me your addy again. I thought I had it, but could not find. Probably going to dig again soon. Should be able to send a few larger rhizome pieces and possibly ones with culms attached such as in the picture of my "Getting ready for Spring!!!!" posting. Should be less than $20 to send via horseback. LMK

Sounds good. I still have the one holding on...looks half alive, half hit by a truck though
The other 2 foot rhizome I planted did nothing...wonder if its dead? Should I dig it up and look? What exactly am I looking for once I dig it up anyways? will it look odviously alive or dead? The other rhizome that quickly shot up a culm is the one that looks pretty tattered. But stil signs of life.

If dug up, the rhizome should have buds ready to burst with life. More buds, the more potential for life. Sometimes there could be dormant buds that never do anything.

One did fire up a 1 foot whip real quick... but didnt last long... the other did nada...I left it alone ... kept watering in hopes of a late bloomer... but sadly it wasnt to be. If you still have rhizomes to send... please let me know

Sorry to poke me snout in, but if you're talking about bare rhizomes, after shooting is not a good time, you should include an attached culm.
I suspect that you already knew this and I am stating the obvious

I have butchered my YG pretty hard to make room for others, and in fact it may go completely if I get my hands on some spectabilis. At the very least I want to remove some more, and after it's mostly done shooting, I'll send out young divisions. I can't see there being any bare or almost bare rhizomes in a week or two.
Good point to make though Brad.
