Based on the accu-weather reports, it should be average temperatures with large swings, and lots of snow this winter for my area which is not bad. Since they should be lots of residual snowfall, I probably don't need to protect my zone 7 rated plants at all this winter since temperatures are probably not going to even get close to sub-zero. The lakes are well warmer than usual which usually means more lake effect snow and less likelihood of getting that cold since the lake water acts as a heat sink minimizing the extreme cold in the winter. Hopefully this forecast holds true.
It is even better for those in the south since there should'nt really be much of a winter.

I can't complain too much about last Winter, I managed to avoid shoveling the driveway. Lots of snow, but no subzero temperatures.
