For those that were interested aka Lance...

Here is a link to my webshots page with photos from my trip to Costa Rica in 2003, my backpacking trip to Europe in 2004 and a few photos of me before and after my 9 hour craniotomy on 8/18/2005.

Great photos in Costa Rica. Especially the Braulio Carrillo Rainforest 1,2,3. Oh yes, and who could forget the 70m Tall Pre-Columbian Ceiba Tree. Looks like a national geographic adventure.

Bring back some more great photos on your next trip down there. I always wanted to go to all sorts of different locations throughout the world, but I am used to my relaxed lifestyle and am not sure if I want to venture out into the unknown.

Great pix! Very glad you survived your surgery. All this chatting about bamboo and never knew you were going thru all that. Wow.

Iowa, looking at how bloody wide open your area is, and the potential abundance of straw, If'n I was y'all, I'd put up extra bales in the summer/fall and build straw igloos around your bamboo to keep the wind off it. Don't worry about it blocking light, the overhead light is plenty. It might be really interesting to see if it helps.

Imagine that, my favorite pastime is walking through the woods. And I live in prairie country :!:
Don't worry Brad, if I have my way, I'll unopen my land. My decidious trees, conifers, and el bambu will hopefully slow down the winds that persecute me.
Maybe a real igloo would work. I remember thujamike showing pics back in the gardenweb era of snowman protecting his bamboo.

p.s. with all the animals we have, they take all our bloody straw. One day I will surely reign over this place, but until then........... :?

Lance,

Your photos are nice too, but a different nice. I like the tropics, but snow is a welcome suprise in my area, so 3 inches is a blizzard.

I am going back to C.R. this November. Heading to the Osa Peninsula to do some hiking, surfing and also to look at some real estate in that area.

Mike,
On a serious note, I almost never woke up from that surgery. Two serious complications during the procedure almost took me out for good, but I'm doing much better now, about 6 months ahead of schedule for recovery.

Here is a link to see some MRA scans of what was going on up there. The top two are of me, the bottom 3 are of someone else.

Kurt,

No doubt! This surgery opened my eyes real wide. I really appreciate days with no headaches, dizziness, nausea, or cerebral fluid draining out, unfortunately they are far and few between.

I'll keep people updated on my travels and my successes and failures with bamboo. I am planning on starting up my own business here soon and buying a house, so might not be on the board that much, but that is because I will be living life. Screw this corporate job i've got now!

Time to go wax the skis and snowboard!

Yeah, I got tired of wage slavery a long time ago. . I've been alot happier not working for the people upstairs with their invisible whips.

Hope that what your planning for work becomes a success, sounds like your corporate job hasn't been the happiest of times
