I was given this tropical bamboo plant. I dug it up and I don't know what kind it is. I have looked and searched the bamboo web files but haven't had any success.

Since you are from Texas, my guess is Bambusa tuldoides.

Thanks Roy

I was thinking it could either be B.textilis, S. fastuosa. or B. tuldoides . So thanks for the help.
From this same plant I have put 11 cut-off nodes in pots hoping they will grow and produce new clones.

First link you have a very common form of Error 404, grows well in bad links. LOL

second.. the picture ,ah yes, is some sort of bambusa or a multi branching bamboo. We will need more pics.. thats my best guess right now.

Bill,

Look at the images of B. tuldoides and compare it to your plant. From looking at you single shoot, I'm not 100 percent its B. tuldoides, but with the limited information, I that my choice of guesses.

Roy
Great pics.

Yes they look the same. The Bamboo in question has 'rims' on each node like in your photo.
Thanks

For Bill Howard:: Plant dug in Texas. Bill If you will tell me where you dug this plant or from whom it came, there is a good chance that I can tell you WHAT kind it is.. It is almost assuredly NOT Fastuosa.. (Fastie IS a runner, altho a very SLOW one and Very easy to control.)..

bye for now f rom Central Texas KinderC

It came up 3 days ago. 10.1.2006.
Does this still look like a B. tuldoides?

Compare the new green auricles with ones from a dried culm sheath. Even though the green auricles are not quite in focus, looks like B. tuldoides to me.
