Mentioned was made on this site of 'Sunset Glow'. Where are these names coming from? I have only heard of one legitimate 'Rufa' on the market and that's 'Green Panda.' I have one from Kimmei in 2000 whichis not GP. Is this new name synonymous with GP due to patent issues? If so things are getting very nomenclaturally messy.

The wholesale nursery where I buy most of my (non bamboo) stock has been selling 'Sunset Glow' for several years now. I bought some to try of course, don't know what the name is all about, it looks pretty much the same as my 'Green Panda'.

I believe it is a trademark of the Monrovia company. I personally observed the 'Sunset Glow' at a Lowe's store locally.

As far as whether it is any different than regular 'Rufa' I'm not sure. It could be that Rufa was one of the Fargesias that flowered and these are choice cultivars from seed.

How many names can a single bamboo have without leading to mass confusion?

Kimmei seems to be the only one with several distinct 'Rufa's and they were the original introducers.
