dependable - Did your denudata experience the annual winter defoliation others report every year? It looks like it would get a fair bit of sun.

John, mine is fully leafed out now just like nitida, they look leafless all winter and then boom there they are.

I believe the leaves curl some in cold, but not as much as nitida. Picture was taken today. No major defoliation. The specimen I have is pretty nice, but I think it would do better in this location with a little more light. Plant is under oak tree canopy that is late to leaf out in coastal climate, but it is in mostly shade during summer.

Brad & dp - Sounds like denudata behaves much as seedling nitidas do here. I thought ones out by the coast had lost all their leaves in February as I didn't inspect them closely enough. Here the seedlings have done much better stored in an outdoor frame rather than in the cold room at 5c. Pic of a few just now.
