Id Help

Post by thor13 »

As a newbie couldn't imagine there are so many sites about bamboo on the net.
This forum looks helpful.Me and my brother managed to transplant 5 plants from a little river near house to our garden(location about 50km. north from Athens Greece)
We 're looking fwd to for your id help.
Spending some time in this site we guess that they 're propably belong to the Phyllostachys genus.

Thanx

Welcome to the forum, your bottom photo showing distorted nodes at the base of the cane indicates that this bamboo is Phyllostachys aurea. Usually it is not possible to ID bamboo via photos of the canes but this species is easy due to the distorted nodes.
