Mike dug this "native" bamboo from the "bootheel" -- the southern tip of Missouri, about 150 miles south of me. It's pretty attractive and tall for Arundinaria, so can anyone confirm that ID?

It does look like A. gigantea to me. At least the branching pattern and culm coloring reminds me of gigantea.

I agree with Foxd, definitely A. gigantea based on the branch patterns at the nodes alone its a safe ID. Surprised that the culms do not have persistent sheaths.

Thanks! I didn't realize A. gigantea got so tall. I may have to see if he'll give me a division. He said he could tell me where to dig it, but I'd rather drive 10 miles to his place than 150 miles to the source. =)
