Pretty sure that it is Phyllostachys mannii 'Decora', sometimes instead of the cream/green they will be cream/burgundy - even in the same grove, the same year.

The only thing I know of that is similar is Brachystachya densiflorum but the overall plant form would let you tell the difference between these 2 species.

Here is a shoot pic of Phyllostachys mannii 'Decora' from the photo section:

It sure looks remarkably similar. Though mine have never produced these lighter colored shoots, only the lavender ones, that's most likely due to the weather and sun intensity at my location. BTW, what's your location? It's not recorded in your profile.

They do have the form of decora, but as has been mentioned, all of my shoots are cream/ purple brownish sorta lavender. My plant is in half day shade so I'm not sure what role sunlight would play with the colors. Maybe there are multiple clones? The shoots are too large for densiflorum and in my short 4 year experience with it, 3 cm is all mine will do.

David,
Hard to say what influences these differences in shoot coloration. Of course mine is growing in a soil that is quite basic (though adjusted somewhat by use of sulfur, mulch, and compost). Mine is also planted in a ten foot by ten foot raised bed with a Larrea tridentata plant growing on the North side, stealing nutrients and water, but providing a little shade (branches grow up and arch over the bamboo). Mine also sends many rhizomes in every direction and each year hundreds of 1/4" diameter shoots/culms emerge in the raised bed and in the walkway around the bed.

rhum23,
If those shoots in your photographs are Phyllostachys mannii 'Decors', and I believe that they are, I certainly envy being able to have this species produce such large diameter culms. I definitely need to change how I care for this bamboo. Can you share any details of how the plant in your photographs is cared for?

Here is a photo of mine that I had previously posted to this site. One shoot mostly green/white the other with lots more purple.

those pics of the culms look like some form of Semiarundinaria. I would think that they are different from the shoot pics you posted.

A happy Brachystachya densiflorum (not mine) would get that tall and it looks very much like a Semiarundinaria species in branching habit, so along with the shoots suggesting that I am now inclined to think that it is what you have.
