PHYLLOSTACHYS heteroclada
Anyone know what the distiguishing features are between the three types.I got mine a year ago rhizome only,the plants are very imature I'm expecting to need to wait but wonder what to look for in the future,,,thanks

Here's a shoot from a purpurata form of heteroclada.

Note the red/purple culm leaf blades. The other forms have purple dispersed throughout the whole sheath with greenish blades.

Please I am not native english speaker and i still donť understand the difference between solid and straight. Could you explaint it to me more wide? What solid and straight exactly mean? Where is difference?

Sorry Wufeng, I wasn't really using standard English in the above description. From what I read, the purpurata form will have pure purple sheath blades (the tips as shown above). The other two forms will have diluted purple mixed with green throughout the sheath.
Straightstem is supposed to get twice as tall as purpurata and solida and without crooks or bent culms.
If your plant is big enough you could cut some culms to see if they're solid near the base or lower half.
Hope this helps, but it's still English. If I had good pictures of each I'd post those instead but I don't have any yet. Maybe later this spring.

Thanks for explanation, now I think I understand it well. I have Phyllostachys heteroclada Straightstem.
