Went to the Chicago Field Museum today and spotted what can only be ID'd as painted bamboo. These antelope run through groves in Central Africa with their heads tilted back so their horns don't catch on the culms.

RE: Chicago Field Bamboo
HA! That is so funny; I saw the same thing last summer. I had forgotten about that exhibit! While I was in Chicago I also saw a rather industrial planting in the bottom of a high-rise. (Along the river, 3 blocks west of Michigan, south side) The building is entirely office space, but the species in the lobby reached over 40 feet in 4 separate plantings. I dont know what species it was, obviously a Phyllostachys...possibly a 'henonis'? Ill have to upload some pictures of that. Then we can start another guessing game! -Eastlandia

Do they eat the bamboo? (looks as if they are enjoying themselves!)

I bet they would eat it but they already looked stuffed. I guess if deer would eat bamboo then these antelope would too, but I don't know.
