Anyone else have Dendrocalamus Grandis? There isn't much available out there on this bamboo. Mine is in the ground and this will be the first winter for it.

With a name like "grandis", it should be a nice one.

Allen, do you have any info on it, along with any pics? I see that pics of it are very limited, so I would love to see what it looks like.

I got mine from Jim Rehor in Los Angeles. The closest bamboo so far that it looks like is the Bambusa Beecheyana "pubescens". It put up a 1.5" culm about a month ago. I'll be able to give you more info as it grows. It definitely didn't mind the wet feet which is a good thing right now.

Tropical Bamboo has it listed as:

Medium green culms with silky texture. Leaves feel almost plastic and are slightly glossy. A large timber bamboo that produces highly ornamental, edible shoots. Will grow to 60' tall with 4" diameter culms in Florida. Minimum temp 27 degrees F.

Sounds like a nice bamboo, especially with the description of the leaves.
