Thank you, thank you. Looks like I just barely posted that before both Mantis and Marcat were about to.
I have never seen this Dendro, and I don't even know where it might be growing in Florida. The files on this one reveal very little, so I am wondering if anyone has links to any pics. Allen, how would you describe this one? Have you ever seen a mature clump?

Never seen a mature clump. I have seen culms close to 2" in diameter. Contact Sherry Snodgress at http://www.bambooflorida.com/index.html if you want one.

I am sure you will see pics in the next few years of this beauty here in the U.S..

Variegated culms, GIANT leaves. Very pretty. Just like any BIG leaf bamboo, the size of the leaves are dependent on sun/wind exposure and care.

When I planted my first GIANT leaf D. Brandisii, D. Latiflorus, D. Giganteus "Quail" at the farm, the new leaves got considerably smaller. This is the first year they started to get back to the size they were in my protected back yard in the shade. Bottom line, be careful when trying to ID a boo based on leaf size.

Thanks for the info Allen. It sounds nice, and I can't wait to see this one BIG; same as the Quail Clone, and sinicus. It will be interesting to see who is the real King of the Giants. From the looks it will be D. sinicus by a nose.

Don't forget the "Parker Giant". I have two of those and can't wait to plant them in the ground. I am going to dig a 200 gallon hole and then plant it about a foot higher than the surrounding ground just in case it floods again. I will have to haul in a truck load of good dirt to fill around it. I will also have to use about 10 bags of mulch on that to keep the ground from drying out too quick. Should be fun. I am going to ask the neighbors for goat, horse, and cow poop. I know a local nursery that sells bat poop, so it may be time to shell out some $$ to come close to Chuck's "Parker".

I am super excited about the Quail clone. It put up a new shoot finally. The big leaf boos usually go through a tough transition time when they go from my back yard to the farm. Some times, it takes them over a year to recover. New shoots are a good sign "they like it". That is planted to the south of the B. Beecheyana "pubescens" which should provide some protection from the North winds.

In about 5 years, my farm should really be something to see. Ya'll come on down.

The Parker's Giant will give the others a run for their money. Parker's and the Quail clone are my most sought after boos, and more than likely my next purchase(at least the Quail clone). Its gonna be real interesting to see all of them in the same climate to see how they measure up.
All that poop should be great for the boos, especially the bat guano. That stuff is great, and plants respond very well to this.

Location: We are less than one hour south of downtown Houston. We are located in Wild Peach, Texas located half way between Brazoria and West Columbia. Exit hwy 36 onto County Road 354. Take County Road 353 west . Go approximately 2.4 miles. We are on the left.
Last winters 27 low did not hurt a newly planted Parker's Giant at Mercer. It was starting to shoot 2 weeks ago. I will check again tomorrow.

Bamboo Outlaw, that is great to hear. That would make it the premier timber bamboo for Central Florida. A lot of the giants will grow here pretty well, but there is a chance that once and awhile they might get top killed. Maybe Parker's Giant can handle what the others cannot.

Well the price has gone down! I paid $400 for mine (and that was with a price reduction from the regular selling price), but mine was in a HUGE pot, about 10 feet tall with about an inch and quarter diameter culm.
