Wild urban bamboo

Mid-August, while biking along the western border of Chicago, I found this untended patch of green Phyllostachys. It looked very thick and healthy especially in this hot summer with its record-breaking drought. The cement alley kept it between the garages.

Looks like a great bird refuge in the urban jungle.

I'd probably fall off my bike if I saw something like that. I guess in Chicago you never know what you might see. I'd maybe ask the "owner" for a chunk of that asphalt.
