I planted the two in the same bed to one day have them mix, yours looks more efficient than that!

Hi Brad. Would this be considered a reversion or or a mutation? The H.I. came from an Aureocaulis grove at Savannah Bamboo Farm and Coastal Gardens that contained Vivax type, Huangwenzhu, and Huangwenzhu Inversa.

David, I can't speak to the proper term for this, over the years I have noticed that all of the yellow forms of Vivax seem to want to go back to green. My HI is showing lots of drippy green stripes outside of the sulcus, I've never seen a green form switch to yellow.

Yes, That's what I have observed too. I have a Spectabilis grove that has yellow groove in it , and a Robert Young that has Houzeau, and viridis type.

I have a little bit different experience. I have spectabilis mutation to aureocaulis form. But in vivax group I often see mutation from yellow to green, like you mention above.
I am engaged in pages about hardy bamboos in Czech language - http://bambusy.info/.

That is actually common (or more common) in vivax. I bought a Phy. vivax Aureocaulis from Ned at BG about 12 years ago now. It reverted to all green vivax here after a 7 degree cold winter 6 or 7 year ago. Then 3 years ago it sent up a Huang. Inversa culm, and last year sent up a Huang. culm. So I have had 4 different vivax chimeras from one plant! The three vivax species now are still connected by rhizomes in one 25 gallon tub.
Happy trails...
