How should I tackle this?

I have to reduce size of my bambusa. I’m thinking anywhere from 30-50%. I am planning on tackling this week. I have a cordless reciprocating saw and a 12” pruning blade. I’m thinking of just reducing from the inside since these are the older culms. I want to make this as atheistic as possible and maybe get some divisions as well. I assume you have to reduce it for other reasons, not for the health of the plant -- because it looks great to me!

If you reduce from the inside, how is that making the plant smaller? It will still take up the same amount of width and probably height.

Thanks for complement. I really just want to reduce volume. So maybe I’ll take some divisions from both inside and outer area of plant.
