My 5 year Rufa really sized up this spring. I'm really happy about that as they were really scrawny for so long. But my Nitida... the largest plant threw a few shoots and that's about it. Am I too early? I think I remember Nitida shooting well after Rufa, but not this long.
Thoughts??
Rufa sized up big time. Nitida... not so much.

Steve- My old generation F. nitida would send up shoots in mid to late August, a bad time oif year as it'sas dry as it gets here around that time. All the new gen ones seem to shoot in June, could be juvenility and they will get later as they mature. They are taking their good old time.
Two NG nitidas to the right of the big 'Rufa' are our seedlings planted out autumn 2012.
Last picture three self-sown nitidas in Annapolis Royal, NG. Think we sprouted them in 2009 or 2010.

A short update.... my nitida is shooting and looks like it will for a while. Very happy about that. On another note, some of my smaller Rufa are shooting as well. Not sure what to make of that...
