If you are growing them all in the same area, it shouldn't really matter whether you start with 1 or 6 because one of them will eventually dominate the rest. It may be more congested in the first few years, but eventually, the weaker plants should die off in that plot.

Decora can spread pretty quickly with lots of culms since it has pretty skinny rhizomes.

I think by next year, you will probably realize that bamboos can fill out an area much faster than you anticipated. They will often stay in a clump for a couple years. The one exception is a very short growing season, or cool summers which limit rhizome growth on certain species. One reason mine are still in clumps is because I take divisions every year.

If you want to see bamboo turn very green, you may want to try out some chicken litter if you can get a hold of it off craigslist, or poultry farmers around your area.

In congested condition, first, one plant will dominate the other, but in the end all will suffer and look ratty if you forget to prune them regularly, above and below ground. Happened to my Aurea that nearly died last year and my potted Borinda fungosa, which actually did die during the winter. I later found out that the soil resembled peat moss with all the dead roots. There was no soil left, roots only. RIP.
