Way to go Rick! Your heterclada can go where you can't have the pond. 8)

That pic isn't too big, Vicki. I have a small screen and it fit perfect on there without having to scroll down or sideways. 8)

Maybe someday some organization will be handing out bamboo seedlings to elementary kids, kinda like there is an organization around here that hands out a tree to every 3rd grader in the school district. Not sure if its done elsewhere:?:

I wish there was an organization like that handing them out to the big "kids" too! What a great world it would be!

I have the tip of a bamboo seedling emerging from a peat pellet I planted a couple of heteroclada seeds in. It's probably heteroclada, though it could be MOSO, since the same peat pellet had MOSO seeds planted in it a year ago, that never germinated.

More heteroclada seedlings have sprouted! :D It looks like they are much easier to germinate than MOSO.

.......and possibly a better candidate for your climate. 8)

lkz5ia: I suspect strongly that there is a MOSO out there, somewhere, that has the right combination of genes to survive and grow large in Indiana. Either that, or global warming will make it possible to grow large MOSO here.

Temperature was 22F this morning. Colder than I like, but I have to remind myself that it is January and not unseasonably cold. Besides, it's supposed to warm up today and winter is almost half over.

rfgpitt: That doesn't suprise me, they have to do that so I have room in my inbox for spam.

I think I'm going to shift my important email to Gmail.

I did get your email that you had received the rhizomes.

I had the account for a while, but never used it much, only for emergencies.

Anyway, my email address here is now going to Gmail.

Once the seed is planted, about how long does it take on average for the plant to poke its head out of the ground? :?:
