RE: Portland Bamboo Festival
The only rare plant that has been announced is a Phyllostachys edulis Bicolor. I did ask about some other rare plants but have not received an answer back yet.
Will you be near your phone on Saturday? I could give you a call if there is a Parvifolia. The Auction is normally scheduled for 11:00 Pacific time but could start anytime after that.

RE: Portland Bamboo Festival
No Parvifolia but I did pick up a nice 15gal F. robusta 'Wolong' at the auction for $70.
The Ph. kwangsiensis was not put in the auction instead it had my name on it with a great price. Thanks Ned
It was well worth the 5 hour drive to get there.

As long as you didn't have to sell your soul! I once saw on a simpson's episode that bart sold his soul. On another episode I saw homer sell his soul.
Ned works the underground bamboo market. Good to know.

I guess not everyone here would know who Ned is.
I was talking about Ned Jaquith from Bamboo Garden in Portland. www.bamboogarden.com
He has been collecting and selling bamboo for over 20 years so he has a few that are not for sale yet.

RE: Portland Bamboo Festival
OK Brad,
When I asked Ned about the plant he replied and forwarded the email to his nursery.
I did not know that it had my name on it until after the auction was over and I asked about it.
That is my story and I am sticking to it.
Bill
P.S. I think I owe Ned (or Amber) a dinner in Hilo.

So I thought it was going to be in the auction. I told Brad about this and he asked me to bid on it for him.> Amber,

I like the sound of that Bill - having you & Ned together, the old 2 birds - 1 stone thing, as I know my way around Hilo and you'll be easy for me to find.

But you don't have the Kwang... Dinner is a poor substitute.
