I think this year's conference was another success with it's main focus on bamboo construction.

They had an amazing list of speakers including Simon Velez, Marcelo Villegas, Gerard Minakawa and Daniel Cheyne. Other bamboo architect / builders were also in attendance including Darrel DeBoer and Will Pierson. They also had speakers on other topics including Deborah Missoti on primates and bamboo, Shanti Pierce on making bamboo tea and beer, James Clever on temperate bamboos, Kelly Bradshaw on clumping bamboo in the landscape, Victor Cusack via Skype from Australia and others.

It waqs a rare chance to hear these speakers and hang out with them between speakers and at meals.

I feel that my bamboo family is expanding even though some have passed in the past year. Ned Jaquith was in attendance even though he passed away last year. He had last a lot of weight but still managed shock you if you did not expect to see him when you looked up or came around a corner. He was even on the dinner cruise raising money for the Ned Jaquith Foundation.

I hope to see more of you in San Diego next year.
