The 100th anniversary of the bamboos at Avery Island in Louisiana USA
is being celebrated at McIlHenny's estate February 19-15. It is a work
party. We will be thinning the groves. Photographers are welcome. For

Yes, Daphne, it will be a whiz bang, Cajun shindig, BUT the date is Feb 19-21st.. Friday nite THRU Sunday. The GROVE thinning will be a LARGE grove of Moso, most all 4 inch in dia. or larger. If you've never been in a grove of truly large bamboo, you will be literally blown away. One can BUY poles afterward (this IS a fundraiser for the Louisiana Chapter), AND one can dig starts for transplant, from the Moso, or Henon or others that are nearby.. One can ONLY dig after the work party is done. And BTW, one MUST be a member of the La, Bamboo Chapter, but one can "pay at the gate", and it's $15 bucks (I think that is still correct.)).. Check the LA Chapter web site to be sure, or email Andy Ringler, for details..

Best regards from Central Texas

to clarify: Membership in the American Bamboo Society with chapter membership in the Louisiana Gulf Coast Chapter is required. If you are already an ABS member with a different primary chapter - then membership in the additional Louisiana Gulf Coast Chapter is required.

ABS membership info is posted here: http://bamboo.org/About.html#Membership
If you are already an ABS member and just need to add the LGCC - then use the chapter membership form posted at http://www.lgcc-abs.org/

All meal reservations for the event are required in advance.

more details on the event will be available soon
