HI,
When and where is the next (2008)ABS annual meeting? I would love to attend if it is near enough and I can arrange vacation time from work.
Always planning ahead...

As of the end of the board meeting, next years meeting is still not arranged. 2009 might be in Seattle or Portland. 2010 will be in Savannah Georgia.

RE: 2007 ABS Convention Schedule
I like all those options for the 2009 and 2010! When I was living in Atlanta for work, my parents came out and we visited Savannah, GA. Pretty cool place, even if it wouldn't be my normal style of places to visit.
I wish I had known at the time of the bamboo garden that I think I have recently read is there? It was a fun place to just stroll through the parks by the water (it was close to St. Patty's Day so all the fountains were turned green!).
The favorite of all of ours however was a really old historic cemetery there, that while weird sounding, was really fun to stroll through and read actual history on the tombstones or crypts etc. Remember over here on the west coast, we are quite a bit younger than you folks on the east coast... =D

No insult to anyone meant by that comment at all! I am a bit different and don't seem to enjoy what I consider the "touristy" types of places, that for me Savannah seemed to be oriented towards.
Maybe others will have a different experience, but then again I was only there for a day (we got up super early, drove 4 hours there and back, getting back home to Atlanta at 11pm ughh that last 4 hours was long!).
That is why I might actually go back for a long weekend in 2010... =D

Most of the Savanna event will be here: http://www.bamboo.caes.uga.edu/
We think we will let the new at-large rep host the event next year.

I'm guessing that at some point the election results may be reported to the candidates and membership?bambooweb wrote:We think we will let the new at-large rep host the event next year.

Maybe they had some "hanging chads" and they are having a recount now!

Re: RE: 2007 ABS Convention Schedule
Thanks Rick, Roy and everyone else who voted for me, I am going to roll up my sleeves and do all I can to try and help get things going. Maybe we should get our heads together and see if we can come up with some agreeable 'low hanging fruit' ideas to pursue. I'm not so naive to think that we'll do anything earth shattering in a short time but I am hopeful that we can start small, build some board cohesion and momentum. I'm the new kid on the team and will need to catch up on inner workings of the board, I do look forward to seeing the 2008 budget to see what we have to work with.rfgpitt wrote:Congrats needmore!
