SSSssshhhh! I just took a bunch of pictures of my yard tonight. I'm going to win that contest (not that I could fit 4 more boo in my yard), but here is a picture I just took... :D

Mantis,
That sand table is a good one (if you can keep the kids from putting the sand in the water)!

The yard is looking pretty good.

Now envision what you think his backyard will look like in 5 years!

I envision it to look somewhat like a jungle. You will not be able to see your neighbors' houses, in the background, but surprisingly your backyard will look a lot bigger than it does now with a lot of open space.

With judicious pruning and not too much fertilizer, I envision a beautiful yard.

It seems to me that a lot of people try to compete for the ?biggest? whatever and then crowd them together while they are small. This leads to a jungle. As Roy says ?look 5 years ahead? or 20 years with trees.

Michael

PS: Nice looking yard

All my boo are 8' on center (except for 'Mei-Nung' which has been given 80'). I know I'll have some pruning to do, but it shouldn't get too out of control since the majority of my boo are small to medium clumpers. :D Plus, I want a jungle... I want my back yard to be totally isolated from everything around it, and my goal is to eventually get rid of all of my grass. 8)

Then you are moving in the right direction. The bamboo will eventually block out the sun on the grass below and you'll have a nice jungle even Tarzan would love. :D

Bigger is not always better, but if I won, I couldn't accept the plants because the rules say they can't ship to Florida. :(

Today is the last day to enter. I just submitted a couple pictures. There are almost enough prizes to cover everyone who entered. :laughing1:

" * 1st Place: Four 1 gallon bamboo plants, appropriately suited for your zone
* 2nd Place: One 1 gallon bamboo plant, appropriately suited for your zone
* 5 ?Runners? Up will receive Bamboo Headquarters T-shirts and bumper stickers!"

They could probably ship you a t-shirt. :)

I guess I was a bit off... there are 7 prizes and around 30 entries.
