I'm a strict vegetarian (vegan), but I have a charity bike ride that I'm doing on Sunday. There will be a complimentary vegetarian lunch on Sunday, offered to all who attend the festival and celebration.
If my wife hasn't already made plans for Saturday I'll try to head over for a bit (it's about 125 miles from my house).

If I could be a strict anything, I probably would choose fruitarian. Only problem would be with the acidity. But I watching a documentary on the Amazon and parrots would eat clay off the riverbank bluffs to neutralize acidity.I'm a strict vegetarian (vegan
Bicycles are fun. Semitrucks zooming by me at 55mph. I kind of feel like the game frogger.but I have a charity bike ride that I'm doing on Sunday

Esqueze me but it's been a long time since trucks in Texas slowed to 55.
A bicycler is like a bug on the windsheld of trucks around here.
Is there a video game called 'Squeeched Bugger' ?

I spent a few years in Texas and I can vouch for that. You drive 55 in first gear. Had a 4speed 70' Dodge Challenger RT 440.

Don't worry, everything is good and slow in Iowa. We don't have the year-long heat that drives texans crazy.

Hey- I was in the service then and had to pay for it myself.. .I wish someone would have paid for it for me. Uncle Sam got alot of my blood, sweat, and tears for it but it was worth it. Wish it were the 70's again and gas was 40cents a gallon. ..If I had that car now it would be in my living room as " antique furniture".

I remember having a 1966 428 Ford Gallaxie 500 XL and gas was 33 cents a gallon for premium in 1969. Of course, I was only making about 5K a year back then. So at 3 dollars a gallon, gas is about the same price.BooKing wrote:Hey- I was in the service then and had to pay for it myself.. .I wish someone would have paid for it for me. I know...it's like I could buy a whole pizza back then for what I know pay for a slice. Aaah, the good ol' days when a dollar in your pocket meant you were a rich man. SO you were a Ford man- I was always partial to MOPARS.

Re: RE: Southeast Texas Bamboo Festival November 4 and 5, 20
My choice boiled down to money. I would never have been able to afford a new car like that in the early stages of my adult life. My oldest brother had a friend who was the shop foreman at the local Ford dealership and he knew that I was looking for a car. One of the owners of the Ford dealership was a doctor and he brought in his car and got a new '69 model. The shop foreman called me and asks if I wanted to look at it before they prepped it and get it ready to put on the car lot to sell. I bought it right out of the shop for $1900. 1966 Galaxie 500 XL, 2 door hardtop, burnt orange with a white metal top, burnt orange bucket seats with a lot of chrome in the front, and Thunderbird style molded rear seats. And a big 428 under the hood. Loved that car.BooKing wrote:I know...it's like I could buy a whole pizza back then for what I know pay for a slice. Good ol' American muscle at it's best! Quarters and Rations were provided by Uncle Sam so everything went in the wallet and then out to the dealership. My apologies for getting off-track. Hope the festival gets nice weather.

I bought mine in 1990 for $2500 Heck, I wasn't even born yet when it was new (born in 1973)

Well to get back on topic, my wife has put the kabosh on any plans I had to make it to the festival.
