In 2 months my Borinda fungosa became much larger than I could ever expected. It's not the best bamboo choice for our climate, because temperatures can easily get over 30°C in the summer and drop below 10°C in the winter. I'll try to keep it safe. When it's exposed to full sun, leafs started to fold. I'm not sure if that's the problem, but lately, leafs on almost all stems are not growing as they should. There seems to be a lot of underground growth, lower parts of problematic stems are growing branches with normal leafs. I'm keeping it out of the sun for now, perhaps that happens because of extremely fast growth.

Back to the mosos :)

One of the seedlings is growing rhizome and I think there's new shoot forming. I'll cover it to protect everything from too much sun exposure and drought. Pink colored root is getting thicker every day.

New leaf is having similar stripes. This is the only seedling with such stripy leaf pattern emerging. Yellow seedlings are growing slower and I've seen leaf necrosis. Transplanting and fertilizing didn't help. The ones in full sun suffered most. Perhaps yellow seedlings are some kind of almost-albino planties. Green seedlings, this striped one included, can't get enough sun, one day temperature was almost 30°C already. We're getting close to 0°C at night, so they are already inside again. :P

When it makes new shoot(s), I'll be able to see if pattern occurs there too. I'll transplant it soon, because there are two seedlings in the same, small pot.
The "siamese" seedling is fighting hard to survive. It has deformed leaf growth that makes it impossible for the leaf to open. I'm cutting leaf tips (3/4 of the whole leaf) to make it open, so the new one can start growing. If I ever get it to shoot, perhaps it will be healthy plant. If not, I'll make compost out of it. :)

Striped seedling is still alive, it seemed quite strong until recently it developed another striped leaf with a bit browned yellow stripes. It made a shoot that also developed yellow stripes.
Newest leaf seems to be a bit light sensitive and folds when it's exposed to light. It unfolded this morning, and it didn't receive any full sun yet -(and won't for at least a week or so due to bad weather). I'll transplant this one. I'll take as much of the soil away, soak it in water to remove as much as possible and then transplant it. That way I'll make sure if it's nutrition issue or some kind of genetic flaw.

Browning of the newest leaf worries me. At first I thought that it could be caused by quite strong wind seedling was exposed to, but it seems to be something else. It grows as fast as other bamboos without stripes.

Other bamboos are doing nice. After 1,5 months they are working on their second shoot, branches are emerging and they look healthy. There is some leaf-tip burn, but they look happy. Here's a photo of new shoot that got uncovered during watering today. Looks almost like rhizome, but it's pointed a bit upwards. :)

Just to let you know, the striped bamboo died. All strangely deformed seedlings did. Now I have seedlings that are much stronger, but they show their differences in heat tolerance and their looks. One of them is especially different with MUCH wider leaves that are almost yellow at first but turn green in a week or so. It never curled leaves, even when all other Moso's did.

Hi Guys....

I also have the same thing to mention that there is possibility of some ornamental grass seeds was there which gives you the same results.....

It wasn't ornamental grass. I've isolated it and planted it outside to see what becomes of it. At first it didn't grow much, but when it adapted to new location, it exploded and I've got myself grass that thrives in wet environment all around the globe. When that weed grass starts growing it's hard to get rid of. I killed it first second when I realized what it was.

It's not strange grass seed presence in the potting soil, what is strange is, the way that thing grew. It killed bamboo, that sprouted at exactly the same time as it did. It looked like it attached itself to the seed and suffocated the poor bamboo.
