Exchanges forum search plants list

Post by Alan_L »

Right now the plants list on the "Exchanges" forum search page doesn't match the "Profile" plants list, so there are several plants that can't be searched for on the "Exchanges" page.

Is it possible to use the same list for both?

The list in the exchanges is the same list that you can select from for the profiles. Some users have added plants that are "Not Listed" and I just took a look at the list.
Some of the plants listed are listed under an old name and not the current name. See list at: http://www.bambooweb.info/SSL.php
Others are trademarked plants and if I said that people had these plants for an exchange I would risk getting sued by the trademark holder and I cannot afford a Lawyer to fight it. ( See http://www.plantdelights.com/Tony/trademark.html )
Others say that they have unknown species and some people typed in names that are in the list.
There are a few rare plants that I do not have on the site list and will I add them as I can verify the name.

Well, as an example, in the Profile plants list I see "Semiarundinaria fastuosa", but that is not in the Exchanges search plant list.

Im not sure, bill will have to verify, but the list for exchanges are the plants that people have tagged on their plant lists- so if S. fastuosa does not show, that means no one has it checked on thier plats list as "for trade".

If you select "Growing" in the first box in exchanges you can see who is growing what.
