Go ahead and shut it off, you've prepared us with your 'Veteran Drinker' handle and we won't think twice about mis-spelled wurds

I think the spelling cow is dead. I did not upgrade to V3 because it did not have custom dictionaries but they have not worked in this version for a while and now it is giving more errors. It will not allow me log in where the setup use to be so I cannot even check anything. On the spellingcow website the last update was almost two years ago.

It looks like when I upgrade the forum software I can install install a spell checker that is ran from this server and not rely on on another server like spelling cow.

Spell checker

Bill,

Is there anyway to include an option to use a word editor such as MS Word or WordPerfect to compose a message? I sometimes use the spelling cow, but more often just cut and paste into Word since I have added technical terms into that dictionary as they were picked up and checked.

The new spell checker that I am looking at has a custom dictionary that we can add the spelling of the bamboo names and technical terms.

I don't know quite where the "spell checking" is coming from, but I'm using Firefox on a 7.5 year old Mac and this is how I spell check:

I type, and words that are automatically underlined in red, I click on the underlined word with my mouse, right click, and up pops a list of words to select from. There is a place to add the current spelling to the dictionary. Which "dictionary"? I'm not sure.

It's from Firefox. If you go Tools->Options->Advanced->General there is a toggle near the bottom that says "Check my spelling as I type". :)

Well then, there's a spell checker for everyone right there. I don't know whether Explorer has the same thing are not, as I don't use Explorer.

Well the "right click" option is a little more difficult on a Mac, but we know how to get it done.

Bill,
Have you checked to see if the cow works lately?
mad cow

From what I remembered their website was even down for a bit, but I might br wrong.

*edit: If not, you might not want to advertize for them in the footer.

From their website it looks like the cow is still dead.

When I get time I will remove the link to their site but hopefully I can get everything ported over to phpbbV3 soon because I think I have found a spell checker that will work better.

Right now I have about 20 more auctions to set up.
