I have a large swarm of nesting small carpenter bee in my Phyllostachys aureosulcata and Thamnocalamus tessellatus and I am looking for suggestions. These bees are some of the smallest I have ever seen and have recently stung visitors who have mistaken them for flies. So begrudgingly I have been asked to remove them, the trouble is they appear to be nesting in the cavities of the bamboo itself at varied offsets making removal very difficult. I tried the gentle approach of emulsified sodium tallowate for about a week and a half with negligible results and at this point I am open to other gentle options. The odd thing is there is no sooty mold which in the past would be an easy link with bee/wasp issues.
