What is this and can it be treated?

Post by bigone5500 »

This has been on my leaves for some time and I haven't really worried about it. I'm hoping it will not affect the tree.

It looks like thrips to me. They attack the newer leaves on mostly juvenile plants. I usually treat it with regular pesticide.

What pesticide do you use? How much do I apply?

I use ortho bug-spray at the recommended dosage. You should never add more than that because too much will burn the new leaves and cause newer shoots to abort which has happened to me before.

BTW, there are a lot more people here than the other forum so yes, discussion moves faster.

I bought this at walmart today: http://www.bayeradvanced.com/product/12 ... trate.html. Is this any good? Should I just take it back and get the afore mentioned Ortho?

Ok I hope I did this right. I mixed up the recommended dose of the Bayer pesticide in a quart bottle filled with water. I waited for the rain to leave and poured half of it over the soil. I waited all day long and then poured the rest in. Surely it will get enough of it to help...right?
