Recent Plantings
I'm very new to growing bamboo. Killed my first 2 plantings (they came dying with dry roots from eBay) a little over a year ago, and decided to try again about a month ago. What I have so far:
My fastest grower yet. In the ground 3 weeks, it already has produced FIVE new shoots. PHYLLOSTACHYS BISSETTII from Johnson Bamboo.
And another of the same variety, growing a bit slower (1 new shoot)
Clone X from Roy. In the ground less than a week. The leaves really didn't like the 50 mile drive home.
BAMBUSA VULGARIS from Johnson Bamboo. We had a little frost the night after I planted it, and some of the leaves look like this:
BAMBUSA TEXTILIS from Roy. In the ground less than a week.
Not pictured:
Buddha's Belly eaten by dog, x2 (From Johnson Bamboo)
Oldhammi eaten by dog (from Roy)
Oldhammi just planted (not yet eaten by dog) (from Roy)
Mutabilis still in pot (from Roy)
Potted BAMBUSA TULDOIDES VENTRICOSA "KIMMEI" (from Roy)
Bambusa Multiplex "Gold Stripe" (from Roy)

Addictions are hard to live with, you came to the right place to discuss and show your addiction with like-minded people.

Keep an eye on that dog! In the 28 years I lived at my current house (reminds me that my wife doesn't like for me to introduce her as my current wife), I had 3 different neighbor's dogs that could climb (and they did) the chain links fences around my backyard.

All the dogs are afraid of fences now. They used to climb them, dig under them, etc. One day I put an electric fence up. Now they stay 5 feet from the fence at all time. I don't even turn the fence on anymore. If only I could electrify the bamboo?

Can't imagine why.
I wonder how she would feel about "shiny, new wife"?

RE: Recent Plantings
Somehow I guessed you were remarried.
If this is not the case, then nothing I have said will make any sense of course.

Re: RE: Recent Plantings
"Current wife" doesn't signify definitely a previous wife, but the potential for a previous wife and possibly for a potential successor wife to the current wife. Got to keep them on their toes.hoe_NC wrote:Somehow I guessed you were remarried.

In some countries where bamboo is native, men can have more than one wife and vice versa in polar opposite societies.

I can't believe that boo is native to ANY polar societies. In some countries where bamboo is native, men can have more than one wife and vice versa in polar opposite societies.
RE: Recent Plantings
Not polar as in arctic. You listen to too much snow when you were younger.

RE: Recent Plantings
If there was no previous, shouldn't you just introduce her as you "First Wife"?"Current wife" doesn't signify definitely a previous wife, but the potential for a previous wife and possibly for a potential successor wife to the current wife. Got to keep them on their toes.

Re: RE: Recent Plantings
No, because that would indicate there had already been a 2nd wife, which would be illogical unless I remarried my first wife which might possibly make her my first and 3rd or so wife.hoe_NC wrote:If there was no previous, shouldn't you just introduce her as you "First Wife"?"Current wife" doesn't signify definitely a previous wife, but the potential for a previous wife and possibly for a potential successor wife to the current wife. Same thing as there was no World War l until World War ll occurred. Then we went back and renamed The Great War as World War l.

Yeah, can't let them get too comfortable or they might get bored or something.Roy wrote:
