I have a B mutabilis I picked up out here, the vendor suggested it is a form of B textilis but he considers that issue unresolved so I'm not sure what it really is. It looks like a form of B textilis but different from the Gracilis form obtained the same day.

Now I have on order the Kanapaha form from FL along with the Scranton form, which looked interesting. Now I have to find a space in my yard for a huge bamboo it seems as the Kanapaha should do well here.

A number of years ago, Mercer had a great bamboo collection, including most of the available clones of Bambusa textilis. We had a severe freeze to around 19 degrees F, with an extended time below freezing. I believe it stayed at or below freezing for a couple days.

All the B. textilis forms looked good after the freeze, except 'Scranton', which was damaged pretty badly. It made me wonder if it may be a hybrid with a less cold hardy species.

I think 'Scranton' will perform well for you, but I though this was an interesting piece of information.

Interesting, there are not many photos of it I can find. It should be fine here so perhaps I'll eventually get the missing photos.

The one at Mercer was the only one that I have seen, and is has since been removed. It certainly had a distinctive appearance.

Looks like it would be great for adjacent to pathways or narrow spaces where height is desired.

Nice! I’m about 2 hours west of you, just N of Gulf Shores, AL.
I got several more Bambusa this Spring, which I picked up from tropicalbamboo.com
