Exceptionally Large Alphonse Karr Bamboo

While touring the Bloedel Conservatory in Vancouver, I spotted this Bambusa Multiplex 'Alphonse Karr' which I was very surprised at the culm size! See below and note that I am 6'2" with large hands...

Has anyone see one this size before? I didn't realize it grew that large.

That is not Bambusa multiplex.

It looks like this to me:
