Quite a long list! How long are they in quarantine? Where do they go after that?

Bill -

Nice to see the Borinda/Fargesias KR 5913, KR 5287 but too bad no KR 5074. These have been the top 3 hardiest at a friend's in Germany. Who was the source in begium as just wonder iof they were propagated conventionally or by tc. When will they be released and then who will propagate them?

Some other intersting Fargesias there too!

The ones listed from Belgium actually came thru Jos van der Palen in Holland. Noah Bell from Bamboo Garden Nursery went over and did the cleaning/packaging and will do the growing and propagating after release from quarantine. The PNW chapter donated some of the funds for the trip so some divisions will also be auctioned at the two PNW festivals.

The Tropicals will be grown in SoCal and Florida.

Note that there are also another 30 tropicals in Quarentine that are not listed

Bill, do you know anything about Pleioblastus pygmaeus 'Minimumus'? I wonder if it is a plant I brought to Jos in 2005, if so I might still have it here, haven't checked lately. I brought him a variegated pygmaeus that he was quite excited to get but I thought he had determined it was just a runty form of fortuneii?

EDIT: Never mind, I just found it on his website

The Yushania suijiangensis I bought in the auction that was thought to be a sasaella instead does indeed look like sasaella to me in fact it has gold stripes on the leaves and greatly resembles the aureostriata form of masamuneana I have although the leaves seem considerably narrower. Bill, if you learn of future import trips/opportunities let me know there are a couple of species that are of potential interest here in fact one genus may not be here?

OLYGOSTACHYUM oedogonatum Graceful plant with long narrow leaves.

Height 2-3 m. sun till shadow hardy between -18/-22°C

Hi,

Sorry but with my poor english skills I do not understand very well. Is that mean that the Fargesia demissa Gerry G is actually not available in North-America ? I was looking for that species but it was impossible to find it...

It is now at a nursery in the US but will not be available until the plant grows enough that it may be divided. And boy, I'm betting it will be expensive due to rarity. I believe that in CA you can have it shipped to you perhaps from Europe.

Wow that is an awesome bamboo. I really want some for my yard. Great color! I like the way it grows too, and super cold hardy. Bummer that we can't buy it yet and at reasonable prices. This is now at the top of my list.
