Brad,
I believe you were the one who saw a B. v. 'Vittata' branch flowering in Hawaii. Do remember if it flowered any more or produced any seeds? Here is a B. v. 'Vittata' flowering profusely in Israel:

RE: B. v. 'Vittata' flowering in Israel
Roy, I replied to the email thread a second ago, and as I said there, when I went back to look at the flowering branches the grounds crew had already removed all of the culms that had flowered so I do not know if they set any seed.
Initially the flowers were a very attractive burgundy color so I went and got a cheapy throw away camera and took pictures. This is in a low light situation and most of the pictures were blurry, this time the coloration had turned to straw. I just checked and for some reason I still have 3 of them. If you wish, I can snail mail them to you to scan in but they are not so good. I'll probably toss them otherwise.

Yes, that looks like a cropped version of one of them, the others offer little more. One is just a bit farther back showing the branch from a distance. I now recall that I had borrowed a digital to take these and then had a couple of prints made.
I have a CD with again, mostly junk Tootsik pics due to very late evening light but I will post a couple of the better ones in a bit.
